Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show – Gold Medal Winner, 2009
Our first show garden at the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show set a bold standard.
It was awarded Gold.
Designed as three distinct zones, The Modular Garden anticipated the rise of vertical gardens and outdoor rooms before they became mainstream. It blurred the line between sculptural art and functional landscape design.
Created in collaboration with metal design studio Entanglements, this project marked the evolution of Paal’s sculptural work into architectural steel garden elements. Corten steel became the hero material, chosen for its durability and raw, evolving beauty.
The garden featured our flat packed bottle tree sculptures and custom designed outdoor furniture, demonstrating how artistry and construction can coexist seamlessly.
True to its name, each element was prefabricated and assembled onsite, reducing build time while maximising precision and flexibility. It wasn’t just a show garden. It was a statement about where landscape design was heading.
