Set atop a 10-storey building in the heart of Docklands, this project redefines what’s possible through outdoor living space design in a high-density urban environment. Designed as both a retreat and an entertainer’s space, the garden responds to panoramic views, wind exposure, and the intensity of city living, creating a landscape that feels immersive and considered.
The design works from the centre outward, navigating strict access requirements and structural constraints while maintaining clarity and flow. Timber and powder-coated steel screens provide shelter and definition, while carefully selected planting supports drought-tolerant landscaping suited to the harsh rooftop conditions.
Geometry plays a central role in shaping the experience. A combination of circular and rectilinear forms, set across varying levels, creates movement and interest throughout the space. Integrated seating, custom timber elements, and layered zones reflect a refined approach to professional backyard planning, allowing the rooftop to function as a true extension of the home.
A bold yet controlled palette enhances the contrast between the garden and the surrounding cityscape, reinforcing modern garden aesthetics without overwhelming the space. The result is a rooftop landscape that balances creativity with performance, delivered by an experienced landscape designer to handle both complexity and long-term usability.
