Positioned on a prominent corner site in Regional Victoria, this Buninyong residence focuses on delivering both privacy and front yard curb appeal design through a cohesive and structured landscape approach. A modern reinterpretation of the traditional picket fence, paired with a custom corten steel gate, establishes a strong architectural edge while framing the home with clarity and intent.
The project reflects a considered residential landscape design, where materials are reused and integrated into the overall composition. Stone recovered during excavation was repurposed into dry-stone retaining walls, anchoring the garden and framing key elements such as the sculptural bottle tree. This approach aligns with sustainable landscaping ideas, creating both visual strength and environmental efficiency.
Planting is handled with restraint and purpose, using block planting and a controlled palette to soften the detailed hardscape. This balance supports a calm and cohesive outcome, reinforcing modern garden aesthetics while maintaining long-term performance in a regional setting.
In the backyard, the design shifts toward movement and experience. Sweeping circular paths guide you through the space, connecting functional zones with moments of interest, including custom artwork and gathering areas. Upcycled timber from the home’s construction is reworked into a feature retaining wall, wrapping around a fire pit and seating zone designed for connection, relaxation, and year-round use.
The result is a landscape that brings together structure, material, and usability, delivered by an experienced landscape designer to create a space that feels both distinctive and deeply liveable.
